Khamenei was the most powerful supporter of Ahmadinejad campaign.
But during the visit of so called university students (as majority of Iran students are against Khamenei and they are afraid of the bad publicity their speech may cause, they just invite Basijis who mainly might not be even an university student to these visits) with Khamenei, one of them gave a serious political speech against Ahmadinejad which surely was written by Ayatollah's advisers and was followed by cheers of visitors!
The complications between Ahmadinejad and Khamenei publicly was started from the last year when Khamenei ordered him to depose Mashaei his vise councilor but even after Khamenei publicly gave the order Ahmadinejad defied his order.
